Born in a region with strong country roots, JB Greenfield is the son of Paul, a civil engineer, and Cécile, a dedicated homemaker. Both parents invested their lives raising their four children based on strict traditional values. JB has two sisters and one brother. Other than baseball and competitive swimming, JB spent most of his childhood summers along the east coast of the United States with his family. There, because of his dad's passion for the outdoors, JB’s family often went on camping excursions from the northern beaches of Maine down to the Carolinas, spending quality time together.
JB has a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology and has taught at universities worldwide. A seasoned traveler by passion, one could also describe him as a handyman, a nature lover, and a movie buff as well—never missing the latest releases. On an interesting note, JB learned a few years back that his great-great-grandfather immigrated to the Lowell/Manchester area of Massachusetts/New Hampshire in the midst of the American industrial revolution of the 1800s. This historical period of formidable growth not only helped shape the nation, but also came as a blessing for his starving family as it provided them with essential means of survival and a better life for everyone. JB's existence, however, changed drastically when his mother (God rest her soul) passed away several years ago, after a long battle with breast cancer. This distressing ordeal, his peculiar upbringing, and his ancestor’s situation are all events that, in part, paved the road to the fiction Maggie's Quest is, for the most part. When asked about his new novel, JB responds: “Writing has always been a passion for me. As a young adult, for instance, I would scribble poems or write short stories stirred by personal observations about women I knew. In fact, ever since I can remember, women have been key inspirations in my personal development, and Maggie's Quest is, in a way, an incarnation of that process.” Regarding his plans for the future, JB reveals: “I reserve my esteemed readers with a series of surprises in the form of my next novels. Like Maggie's Quest, I can assure my audience that my upcoming stories will convey strong emotional vibes and shall reach the hearts and souls of many and leave a permanent trace in their memories."
